Geb Bennett, Paleontology Collection Manager and Interim Director

gbennett@discoverymuseum.net

Geb has served as Paleontology Collection Manager and Curator of Collections for the Museum since 2001. As an Air Force brat, most of Geb’s childhood years were spent travelling, and he enjoys doing the same for paleontology. Geb graduated from Mary Washington College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, and completed a Master’s in Paleobiology at George Mason University. Prior to coming back to Virginia, he held positions at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana, the Dallas Museum of Natural History, and the State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg. While at the Discovery Museum, Geb has pursued a field program in the badlands of eastern Montana in order to study the paleoecology, taphonomy, and population structure of the tiny vertebrate animals of the Hell Creek Formation, and is now collaborating with doctoral student Derek Main on the Arlington Archosaur Site in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Geb has been deeply involved in designing paleontology exhibits for the new Discovery Museum and currently serves as Interim Director.
