"I thought engineers drove trains." "How does a CD player work?" "What puts the muscle in muscle cars?" "What keeps roller coasters on track?" What, in effect, is the essence of so many of the things that play a role in the lives of young people?

The National Engineers Week web site has tons of information you can use to answer these questions and many more in your classroom. Posted by the National Society of Professional Engineers who sponsors annual “National Engineers Week,” this site will enhance your classroom discussions about inventions, science and math careers, and problem solving.

Hit the tab "Just for Fun" and find engineering related activities. Solve a mystery, enter a contest, or download hands-on activities about recycling, catalysts, and wetlands. Activities are suitable for students in kindergarten through high school. You can email the society for a huge packet of information about the National Engineers Week web site and annual “National Engineers Week.” Celebrate the week with your school class.
